We originally became acquainted with the Lakeside Inn a couple of years ago..and our dining experience at Beauclaire Restaurant was surpassed by none. Usually, in-house restaurants, in my experience, are overpriced and mediocre in quality. Not so with Beauclaire, it was fine dining at its best. With our vist to the Inn, we received two breakfast vouchers and one dinner for two voucher. The food was so delicious, so expertly prepared and beautifully presented, we opted to eat there two out of the three nights, even though it was pricey. HOWEVER, upon our return to the Inn this year, now under new owners and with a new chef, we were very disappointed. The quality of the food does not compare to our previous visit. Food was either undercooked or overcooked and always a little too salty. That being said, The Lakeside Inn remains a favorite, and the town is filled with wonderful restaurants

Great breakfast experience with discount for those staying at Lakeside Inn. Dinner was another experience. Service was exceptionally slow! The server forgot milk for the tea as well as forgetting my soup. Prime rib was served medium rare as requested but was not warm enough.

I've read the other reviews, this time the food was good. But the service was horrible! The waitress poured the first glass allowing no taste test. She served the second and third glass first then foisted the cork-debris laden glass on the third person. I don't know how the cork got in there as she didn't butcher the cork. She got a replacement glass from the bar for a pour from a different bottle at the bar to replace the one glass. ??? Asked for water which was delivered at the end of the meal. Service extremely slow. Desert for mom came out as we asked for the bill, even after we cancelled the order for it's tardiness. The view at the veranda was great. We used the rear handicap entrance and the building is grossly falling apart. Entered the dining room looking for waitstaff and the smell of a dirty, greasy kitchen was overwhelming. Should have left then. No waitstaff in site. This place is cutting corners to stay in business and I think they are already sunk. The shortcuts could be dangerous to ones health. The raw chicken review above is scary.

We went for Christmas dinner, which turned out to be a buffet. It was our fault for not asking when we made the reservation. The offerings were enormous, you could not ask for more choices (oddly, no turkey). However most hot dishes were held at barely lukewarm temperatures, which is both unsafe and unappetizing. Truly nothing in the stainless steel trays over the heaters was hot, really hardly warm Now for the worst: there was an enormous quantity of southern fried chicken available, which looked very good. Unfortunately, it was all offered at room temperature and was seriously undercooked. Pink throughout and red at the bone. We brought this to the staff's attention and it was removed completely right away. Other diners had the same issue with the chicken. The food is "ok" for a buffet, not really good. And it was quite expensive, $40 a person with an automatic tip of 20% added on. This is truly a ridiculous service charge since you wait on yourself, and the staff only brought water and cleared plates. We would not go there again. It is a shame because the setting is lovely.
